Oh yeah... 4 weeks till my wedding and I tripped down some stairs and sprained the hell out of my right ankle and have a light sprain on the left. So lame. If anyone has any good tips for healing a sprain let me know.

Squarey for a boy

Going to a baby shower on Saturday... so I knit up Squarey last weekend and washed him last night. SO if I can stuff and sew him together this week I'm in good shape:
squarey2_pieces

the last squarey I made is here. I knit this one on smaller needles so he'd be a little more dense (and smaller). It's for a baby afterall :)

I love me some size 17 needles for scarves

I really felt like a few instant projects. Just wasn't feeling up to the size 4 needles on my Picovoli (but I am still working on it... not abandoned yet) :) So I went into my huge stash and started mixing yarns together on size 17 needles and here are a few scarves I made last week:

got a photo for this one finally :) details here.

I'm still working on my Picovoli. I just finished off the waist decreases. So I have really not abandoned that one :)

But I had to start a scarf with the fabulous yarn that showed up in my mail box.

knitting blah

For the last few months or so I've been in kind of a knitting slump... not that into anything I'm making. And really not that interested in knitting in general. This hasn't happened to me in the 3 years I've been knitting. So I just kinda knit as I felt like it (which hasn't been that much). Then on Saturday I started Picovoli and have been so obsessed with making it. Not sure why this pattern has grabbed me (just stockinette stitch in the round with some shaping). But I'm so into it. I'm using some Webs Valley Yarn that I got at stitches in February. It's called Longmeadow (I got olive). So I'm both stash busting and making a really cute top (that is knitting up pretty fast). The yarn is nice to knit with as well. So lets see if I can keep my interest until this project is done. (started July 8th... finished... hopefully this month). I'm just getting to the chest area. So the shoulders are done. I'll get a photo added tonight. I just realized that this shirt will cost about $20 to make as well... I love this project :)

Another scarf in progress

I really felt like doing some cables... so I started this scarf the other day:
tweed_cabletweed_cable_ip

it's rowan felted tweed. I doubled the yarn and am using size 9 needles. Just wasn't up for another scarf on size 5's... so doubling the yarn seemed like a good idea.

Just wanted to update this weekend... as I'm taking off tomorrow for a few days. Some R&R at a hippy spa with my mom, aunt, and 2 cousins. It' smoms birthday next week and this is what she wanted to do :)

So I'm still knitting... planning a wedding... planning a honeymoon... and working 50 hours a week. Sheesh life is busy lately!

Still Alive

Wow it's been awhile since I've posted. Been busy with wedding planning and work. Sheesh I know why people hire event coordinators now :) Anyway...

A couple finished scarves:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Used a cable lace pattern in The New Knitting Stitch Library.
And used Elsebeth Lavold Angora in lime green and 2 strands Rowan Kidsilk Haze in jelly (all held together). It's super soft with a little fuzy halo. I's also not winter anymore so I'll have to wait qute awhile to wear it :)

And a scarf using a lace inlay from Knitting on the Edge.
I used some handsupun for it.

and a closeup becaue it's my homespun :)

And also finished up some homespun bfl yarn:

My vortex pullover from my last post is moving along. I'm done with the first portion of the back. You make it 16 inches long and then put it on a stitch holder as the yoke is knit in one piece.

And because she's cute... here's my dog in the laundry basket... in her defense the blankets from her bed were in the basket :)

Vortex Street Pullover (knit along)

It was hard to pick a sweater in Knitting Nature to start with... I really love a bunch of them.

I'm 4 rows into the back of this sweater using Jo Sharp Silkroad tweed DK in emporio:

here is a better color swatch:

I plan to switch off between this sweater and my other WIPS. So much to knit so little time :)

Here is a scarf I knit up from some of my handspun:

I cast on 15 stitches onto size 11 Addi Turbos and did k5, p5, k5 for 5 rows then swiched colors. So it's just wide ribs. It's yummy merino but way too hot out to wear scarves for many months :)

another knit along?!?!?!?

yeah... I love them. And I love starting new projects :)
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I'm not sure which sweater I want to start with. But I'll figure that out tomorrow. This knitalong totally works with my stash busting knitalong (see sidebar button). 7 weeks of no new yarn bought!!!! So I'll have to find a sweater in this book that works with yarn I already have. So I figure it's a good thing. And have you seen Knitting Nature? Beautiful!

and thanks for the nice comment about my photos in my last post. I picked up a Nikon D200 camera. It's awesome and works with all of my lenses from my film camera. So far I've taken knitting and pet photos but I plan to shoot more with it :)
